- This accession is composed of scrapbooks chronicling the activities of LaGrange and Troup County public schools. They document each school year, primarily through news clippings. Information may be found related to teacher awards, test scores, new faculty, retirements, scholarships, athletics teams, honor rolls, special programs, field trips, class plays, band concerts and choral performances. One special interest volume entitled Olympic Ambassadors, 1991-94, documents the activities of local school children involved with the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. LaGrange’s participation as a training center for Olympic athletes who were a part of the “I Train in LaGrange” program is also covered. This volume includes 215 color photographs, all related to the Olympic Ambassadors program. Activity of LaGrange’s business community on behalf of city schools is treated in the volume entitled Community Involvement. Ninety-six black and white photographs depicting adults from the community visiting elementary schools are included. The scrapbook for 1975-1976 also includes 143 black and white photos of homeroom classes, sports events, parades, plays and festivities associated with the 1976 United States Bicentennial.
