- This collection consists of a scrapbook kept by Carl O. Davis' wife, Martha, during his time of service in the U.S. Army in World War II (December 6, 1943-January 29, 1946). Mrs. Davis maintained the scrapbook in a diary format. She gives personal accounts of her visits to Camp Shelby as well as Mr. Davis' visits to home. Documents found in the scrapbook include personal correspondence (telegrams, postcards, and one letter); souvenirs from Mrs. Davis' visits to her husband and Mr. Davis' service in Europe; newspaper clippings; numerous photographs of Mr. Davis, his friends in the army, and scenes in France and Germany during. A few of these photographs show war damage to Ulm, Germany. The scrapbook also contains a few newspapers published by Mr. Davis' division during WW II.
