- Description:
- The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings from the LaGrange Reporter, circa 1905-1920, relating to several topics. There are biographical sketches of successful businessmen in LaGrange such as Major John M. Barnard and Captain Philip Awtrey, James P. Bennett, Eugene B. Clark, J. H. Edmondson, William V. Gray, E. Glover Hood, and Albert H. Lehmann, Sr. The newspaper clippings include local news from the following communities: Antioch, Aubrey, Crowder, Deloach, Evansville, Musick, Unity, and Vernon. Poetry, short stories, recipes and other miscellaneous subject matter are found in these clippings. This volume also contains a church bulletin dated May 12, 1946, from Wynnton Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia. There are a few handwritten comments in the scrapbook noting important events in the creator’s life. The scrapbook is actually a history text with newspaper clippings glued onto its pages; therefore, it is in fragile condition.
