- Description:
- Folder of Cutler family correspondence that includes letters and V-mail from Henry Miles Cutler, Sr. (1901-1950) written to his wife Hazel Beamer Cutler (1901-1980) when he was serving as a Quartermaster in the Navy during World War II. The letters include some of the details of his daily life in military service, and his hopes to be stationed in the Atlantic rather than the Pacific, as he would be more likely to be able to visit. He expresses that he misses his wife, sons, and his Navy friends deployed to other locations. Some of the letters to Hazel Beamer Cutler are sexual. The folder includes a newspaper clipping of Henry Miles Cutler, Sr. working in a military office while he served in the Navy (shown with other officers). There are also letters written from friends and family expressing greetings, well-wishes, thank-yous, and reminiscences of recent visits. A letter, dated September 1, 1947, possibly from Sallie Baker (1862-1953), and written to the Cutler's son Henry Miles Cutler, II (1935-) expresses regrets that he was in a car accident. Henry Miles Cutler, Sr. wrote several letters that express concern about his mother's health.
