- Description:
- Folder of letters and postcards written to Sara “Sallie” Baker (1862-1953). The topics of the letters include thank-yous for her years of service as a teacher in Thomasville, Georgia; real estate queries; genealogical research; and family news and updates. There are numerous letters from Baker's niece Hazel Beamer Cutler (1901-1980), who provides her with updates on her life in New York City, where she was attending college and performing as a dancer in the 1920s, as well as letters written later in her life when she married and moved to Vermont. There is a heartfelt letter from a former student, a photographic postcard from Sao Paulo, Brazil, a letter from a friend traveling through Europe, several more letters written by extended family, and a condolence letter written by Baker.
