- Description:
- Letter written by illustrator, portrait artist, and muralist Dora Wheeler Keith (1856-1940), dated August 30 (no year recorded), to Eva Elizabeth "Bessie" Baker Beamer (1864-1955). In the letter, Keith notes that Mrs. Beamer's daughter Hazel Beamer (before she took the married surname of Cutler, and who lived from 1901-1980) has been a great comfort and help. She also reports that Hazel Beamer will be dancing in a production called "The Convent Garden" organized by stage designer Ben Ali Haggin, III (1882-1951) and that her husband and brother have gone to chaperone Hazel Beamer. Dora Wheeler Keith and her husband, New York lawyer and reformer Boudinot Keith (1859-1925) were Hazel Beamer's hosts and guardians in New York City, where Hazel Beamer attended college and performed as a dancer before she married.
