- Letter written by illustrator, portrait artist, and muralist Dora Wheeler Keith (1856-1940), dated September 6 (no year recorded), to Eva Elizabeth "Bessie" Baker Beamer (1864-1955). Keith wrote the letter from her family's summer cabin "Pennyroyal" located in a Catskills artist colony (Onteora) in Greene County, New York. The note compliments Beamer's daughter Hazel Beamer (before she took the married surname of Cutler, and who lived from 1901-1980) on her acting and dancing abilities and expresses Keith's belief in her talents. Dora Wheeler Keith and her husband, New York lawyer and reformer Boudinot Keith (1859-1925) were Hazel Beamer's hosts and guardians in New York City, where Hazel Beamer attended college and performed as a dancer before she married.

Pennyroyal. Sep 6th Dear Friends This is just a [C?i?] to tell you how wonderfully Hazel has done this Convent garden. I could not come to see it as I had to be with Lucy while her baby was born on Saturday. But since I came up yesterday, Every body has told me that she was a true artist + very beautiful in her acting + dancing. You know I believe in her talent as well as love her for herself? but this makes me so very proud + happy that I must tell you what people who know her said to me abt her.
