Photo of a Scripto Inc. Scripto Vu-Lighter With Visible Fuel Supply, Made In USA. The lighter is red and transparent with a silver calligraphy-style design on the body. It sits in its original box, placed on a small transparent plastic stand and positioned toward the camera. The box is transcribed "Compact Vu-Lighter" with a trademark symbol and two atomic starburst designs.
Scripto Inc. was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1923. From 1931 to 1977, the factory to the east of downtown manufactured pens, mechanical pencils, and cigarette lighters. Black Atlantans made up a large portion of the staff at this location, with the majority of employees being Black women. - Metadata URL:
