- The Royal Peacock, a club located in Atlanta's Sweet Auburn historic district, was formerly known as the Top Hat Club, one of the city's premier African American music venues early in the twentieth century.
This photograph shows the entrance to the Royal Peacock, a club located in Atlanta, Georgia's Sweet Auburn historic district. Storefronts line the sidewalk beyond the club. A sign with a decorative top reading "Peacock" hangs perpendicularly from the building. It reads "Tonite JA 43 Independence Bodyguard." The front of the club is painted bright orange with a gray brick outline. Parked cars line the street in front of the buildings.
