Ina Dillard, standing in the second row, third from the left, poses in 1890 with fellow teachers in Athens. Dillard taught the third grade at Washington Street School in Athens from 1889 until 1891, when she married Richard B. Russell Sr., a future chief justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Four women stand in the back row, and three women sit in the front frow. Dillard taught the third grade at Washington Street School in Athens from 1889 until 1891, when she married Richard B. Russell Sr., a future chief justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia. Richard B. Russell Sr. served Georgia as a state legislator and appeals court justice before being elected chief justice of the state supreme court in 1922.
