- Though designed by W. T. Downing, Lupton Hall (1920) at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta wasn't completed until after his death. Other school designs by Downing include buildings at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Shorter University in Rome, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Photograph of Lupton Hall on the campus of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia. Built in 1920, Lupton Hall was named for the Oglethorpe University benefactor and Chattanooga Coca-Cola bottler John T. Lupton. The three-story Gothic revival structure has a stone exterior, complex gabled roof line, and a tower rising from the left center. One of the three original buildings on Oglethorpe campus, Lupton has a cast-bell carillon in its tower with fifty-two bells, which chime the quarter hours. - Metadata URL:
