- Description:
- In Macon and Dublin POW camps, German prisoners of World War II were treated well and given plenty of leisure time. In many cases, these inmates retained a strong sense of camaraderie.
Photograph of seven German prisoners of war socializing in their sleeping quarters in a camp in either Macon or Dublin, Georgia in 1945. They sit on dark wooden-frame single beds and gather around a small table on which a portable radio sits. Suitcases and personal items sit on shelves above the beds. A window framed in a white curtain stands behind one of the beds. The walls of the barracks have exposed studs. Coats and hats hang behind the beds. - Metadata URL:
