- Description:
- The former rice plantation dates to 1806, and the Hofwyl House, built in 1850 by descendants of planter William Brailsford, still stands.
Photograph of the Hofwyl House, built in 1850 in Glynn County, Georgia by descendants of planter William Brailsford. This frame house has clapboard siding and a red roof. Lean-tos stand on both sides of the main structure. A dinner bell hangs above the door. A live oak covered in Spanish moss grows next to the home. A fence runs next to the tree. This home still stands on the lands of the Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation, a former rice plantation. The Hofwyl-Broadfield plantation was designated a historic site and state park in 1979. - Metadata URL:
