Photograph showing the interior of the Crypt of Civilization, a swimming pool-sized time capsule filled with contents intended to represent an encyclopedic record of life and customs up until 1940, when the crypt was sealed. This time capsule is located at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia. Many reels of microfilm and sound recordings were placed in the vault, and electric microreaders and projectors were placed in the vault to ensure that the openers of the crypt could see and hear these records. Artifacts cover the floor of the vault. The crypt's interior resembles a pyramid chamber, and pictographs decorate the walls. - Metadata URL:
