- In the Atlanta neighborhood where Martin Luther King Jr. grew up and later preached, the Historic District Development Corporation has been a leader in creating affordable housing and mixed-income development.
Photograph of the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr., which stands at 501 Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia. King was born in an upstairs room of the two-story Queen Anne-style house on January 15, 1929. The home is now painted light tan with dark brown trim.
