- This document consists of a handwritten copy of the January 6, 1817, grant by the Cherokee Indians to the proprietors of the Unicoy road to Georgia. This instrument was executed in the presence of Return J. Meigs, United States Agent, who added a signed notation on July 8, 1817, that the use of the Unicoy road was for twenty years. This handwritten copy was certified as a correct copy of the original by Charles Hicks.
