- Description:
- Color, Culture, Complexity featured the work of 18 national artists examining aspects of race. The show was co-curated by Ed Spriggs and Dan Talley. Primarily of African and European decent, the artists worked in a variety of mediums and styles, and grappled with some of the horrendous assumptions and injustices that have marked racial struggle during our country's history while looking forward with mixed expectations toward the prospect of improved understanding. Catalog features statements and artwork by Amalia Amaki, Perry Bard, Bradley Bullock, William Christenberry, Cybele Clark-Mendes, Marcia Cohen, Harry Delorme, Jr., Mark Steven Greenfield, Linda Hesh, Sally Grizell Larson, Joe Lewis, Billie Grace Lynn, Stephen Marc, Adia Millett, James A. Rose, Jr. Clarissa Sligh, Robert B. Stewart, and Lisa McGaughey Tuttle.
