- Description:
- Letter from Roswell King from Cobb [postmarked at Lebanon, Georgia] to his son Roswell King, Jr. at Darien, dated July 30, 18??. Says that regarding the cotton factory, his intent was to get him there personally to inspect the site and its situation because he had a great respect for his judgment and was concerned for his own health, both in body and mind. Barrington [King] has been there three times and has purchased land for planting and was very pleased with the healthful aspect of the countryside and "opportunity for giting a living [without] the trouble of a large gang of negroes." Lengthy discussion of his own failing health, and the unhealthy situation of the coast in comparison to the new location.
