- Haygood Hall is shown ablaze. Fire destroyed Haygood Hall on August 3, 1968. Completed in 1899, Haygood Hall was one of the historic landmarks of the Augusta community. As a result of the fire, a valuable collection of African artifacts housed in the building was destroyed.
