- "Dixie Doodlers," January 1967. Photograph of "Dixie Doodlers," January 1967. The South Hall band, photographed in January of 1967. To add color and spirit to home basketball games, Ron Evans, South Hall High School band director, organized the "Dixie Doodlers," a student pep band. The group is shown playing for the Gainesville Lions Club meeting. Pictured standing left to right are Tommy Campbell, Stanley Bagwell, Leonard Cagle, Gary Park, Jeff King, Captain Stanley Wiley, Danny Roper, Stanley Pethel and Kenney Casper. Seated left to right are Terry Reed, Dennis Kick and Stanley Black. Jaimie Davis, three-year-old son of Principal Davis, partially covers his face with sheet music while playing "swinging sax" on his knees. He was the band's mascot.
