- Gillsville Railroad Depot in the early 1900s. Photograph taken in early 1900s, showing the Gillsville Railroad Depot (no longer standing). Gillsville was one of the first settlements in Hall County and was first called "Stone Throw." The Northeastern Railroad ran from Lula to Athens, Georgia, and was the major mode of transportation for products and people.
