- Description:
- Funerals of victims after the tornado, 1936. Two hundred and ten dead Gainesvillians were revered at rites for the nameless in a memorial service symbolized in the double funeral of an unknown boy and girl. Services were held in the storm-scarred First Methodist Church, which was used as an emergency hospital after the disaster. Two thousand people, some of whom were bereaved relatives of storm victims, attended the mass tribute to the dead. Caption: "Hall County Library Photo Collection (0514) Gainesville, Georgia."
