- Photograph of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's second visit, March 23, 1938. President Franklin D. Roosevelt visited Gainesville for the second time on March 23, 1938. The President dedicated the Civic Center and attended the unveiling of a monument in his honor. The monument was placed in Roosevelt Square by the citizens of Hall County. It was estimated that from 35,000 to 60,000 people gave the President a tremendous ovation.
