- Photograph taken of the business district in Gainesville, 1944. Notice the view of the back of the Wheeler Hotel, to the left of the Hosch Brothers Company. Wheeler Hotel was later replaced by a building that currently houses the headquarters branch of the Hall County Library System. Also notice C.H. Martin and Son, directly across the street from the front of the Wheeler Hotel; The Ritz movie theater, white building behind C.H. Martin and Son; Big Star grocery store, white building in the lower left-hand corner of photograph; Hulsey's, far right-hand center of photograph; First Baptist Church, large building in the upper right-hand area; State Theater, between Hulsey's and the First Baptist Church.
