- Main Street School. Photograph taken showing the Main Street School, the first public school in Gainesville. The building was built between 1903 and 1904 on the site of Gainesville College, established in 1874. The building was demolished by authority of the City Commissioners in the Spring of 1978. The original building was erected at a cost of $10,000.
