- Gainesville High School, 1944. Photograph showing the old Gainesville High School in 1944. The high school was located on West Washington Street. A bonds vote to construct the building was held on May 7, 1919. The vote was 733 for the building and 18 against. The first class graduated in the spring of 1920. The building has since been torn down, and the land is now used as a parking lot.
