- Gainesville Fire Department, 1899. Photograph showing the former seat of administration - the Gainesville City Hall - in 1899, which was located on the corner of S. Main and W. Broad Streets. The building was destroyed by the Tornado on April 6,1936. The Fire Department was inaugurated in 1900 during the administration of Mayor R.D. Mitchel.
