- Damaged homes of Gainesville, April 1936. Photograph taken after the 1936 Tornado. All modern conveniences were cut off after the tornado hit Gainesville on April 6, 1936. Oil lamps, candles, lanterns, flat top heaters, and other items used in a former day were quickly put to use by Hall County residents.
