- Workman cleaning "Old Joe." Photograph showing the Confederate Monument, often referred to as "Old Joe." The monument was unveiled on Monday, June 7, 1909. The monument stands in the center of the public square in Gainesville. Erected by the Longstreet Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Mrs. C. C. Sanders President, Mrs. A. W. VanHoose chairman of the committee.
