- Photograph of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oakwood, Georgia. The Mt. Zion Baptist Church photographed in 1962. The Mt. Zion Baptist Church was founded September 24, 1889 under a brush harbor near the present sight of the church today. In 1962, under the pastorage of Rev. W. A. Bowens, the present church was built. The senior deacons were Marshall Stringer, Fletcher Williams, Roy Stringer and Dan Cowart.
