Fields discusses her early years growing up in south Georgia and the formation of her interest in politics. She describes her experience working for the campaigns of John Knox and Guy Millner in their gubernatorial races in Georgia, as well as her work for Pat Buchanan during the 1996 presidential race. Fields also addresses her years as state director of the Christian Coalition and gives her thoughts on the role of religion in the public sphere.
Interviewed by Bob Short.
Sadie Fields was born Sara Anne Studdard, c.1945, in Tifton, Georgia, and raised in Homerville, Georgia. Both of her parents were educators, her father a principal and her mother a teacher. She worked for the campaign of John Knox in his run for governor. When Knox lost the primary runoff to Guy Millner, Fields became the grassroots coordinator of Millner's campaign. In 1996, she went to work for Pat Buchanan's presidential campaign, and the following year she became director of the Georgia Christian Coalition. - Metadata URL:
