- Description:
- Petition of Benjamin Stiles of Savannah to Governor and Council noting since Savannah is once again in American hands, trade will soon be needed. Thus he suggests he send to Bermuda where he has connections for a vessel to bring back a cargo of salt, rum, sugar, and other goods which he hears are selling cheaply at that port. He asks permission to do this and clearance from Council in case vessel and cargo meet with "any of our own Privateers." He requests this for the good of the state as well as his own private gain. Signed Benjamin Stiles. On reverse: "Granted."
