- Description:
- Letter of Patrick Carr to Governor John Martin written from Silver Bluff acquainting him with the difficult situation in Burke County. Between outlaw bands under Sam Moore on the one hand and Indian raids on the other the settlers are quite upset and threatening to leave. Although Indians have killed only Tories, no Whigs, the settlers are still disturbed, have abandoned the Ogeechee Settlement for Buck head, but Mr. Galphin's settlement at Old Town still stands by Carr's "persuasion." As soon as Carr regains his health he will ride forth to remedy the situation as much as possible. Signed Patrick Carr. [Letter], 1782 Aug. 11, Silver Bluff, Georgia to Govorner [sic] John Martin, Georgia / Patrick Carr".
