- LeGette Blythe was an author and journalist from Huntersville, N.C. He worked at the Charlotte Observer at the time of the 1934 General Textile Strike. Charles Ward grew up in Gastonia, N.C. and was the son of textile workers.
Blythe discusses his time at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, his work as a journalist and other topics. Ward discusses the local churches attached to the Firestone Mill, his father's work at the Firestone Mill in Gastonia, N.C., the Golden Rule Association, and growing up in the Firestone Mill village. - Local Identifier:
