- Description:
- Paul Muldawer is an Atlanta architect who designed the inaugural facilities for then-Governor Jimmy Carter's presidential inauguration. His plans for wheelchair accessibility made Carter's the first accessible presidential inauguration in history. In addition, Muldawer designed the original Underground Atlanta's architecture and the Presidential Parkway. Carol Muldawer, at the same time, served as a member of Andrew Young's congressional staff, mayoral staff, and on each of his campaigns.
In this interview, Carol and Paul describe their life in Atlanta, their work and personal relationships with Andrew Young, their civil rights activism, and architectural projects. They discuss anti-Semitism, racial discrimination, local politics, and education in the city. Through stories about Andrew Young's political career, they paint a picture of Atlanta's educational, political, racial, and economic issues in the heart of the civil rights movement. - Metadata URL:
