- Ms. Henrietta Antoinin was born in 1935 in Atlanta, GA and grew up in Atlanta near the old Pascal's hotel. She grew up during the segregation and it became part of life for African Americans. She retired as the third vice president from Atlanta Life Company. She helped Andrew Young's campaign for mayor of Atlanta, GA. Ms. Antoinin ran for state representative but she pulled out of the race due to the toll it took on her mental well-being. She was a woman business leader and was very knowledgeable about business.
In this interview Ms. Henrietta Antoinin talks about growing up in Atlanta, Georgia and how the kids felt the way of the life was normal; even though there was segregation. She mentions that at young age, the kids could not understand the inequities. She mentions her interest in politics and how she was an avid reader of the newspaper and somewhat rebellious in her high school as she could not accept the treatment from her white peers. Ms. Antoinin speaks about why she never wanted to leave Atlanta, GA because she felt obligated and committed to her community that had helped her throughout her life. She speaks about the Atlanta Life Company and how when she was thrilled working for the company that was doing a lot of good things for African Americans in Atlanta, GA. - Metadata URL:
