- Dr. Courtney A. Hammonds, also known as the "Dean of Fashion," was born in Columbus, Georgia in 1977. Hammonds received his bachelor's in education from Alabama State University, his master's in business from Keller Graduate School, and his doctorate in business administration from Argosy University. After receiving his bachelor's, Hammonds began a careers in special education teaching prior and retail fashion. Hammonds also served as Fashion Program Chair of the Art Institute of Atlanta's fashion design program. Hammonds is currently based in Atlanta, Georiga where he serves as the Senior Fashion Editor of Upscale Magazine and continues to contribute to a range of fashion initiatives.
Throughout this interview, Hammonds details his upbringing in Columbus, Georiga and his careers in fashion, education, and business. Points of Hammond's career discussed include: his time as sales associate and Associate HR Manager at Neiman Marcus, working as senior fashion editor for Upscale Magazine, and working with other notable individuals in the fashion world such as the late André Leon Talley.
