- The map represents the relative suburban population gains for 1960 to 1975 by the various sectors of the seven-county area outside the old Atlanta city limits. The center octagonal area of the chart, roughly approximating the 37-square-mile Atlanta city limits prior to 1952, had a net lost of 62,139 persons from 1960 to 1970, and 24,648 between 1970 and 1975. The increase in the outer area population was 694,386 persons from 1960 to 1975.
