- Description:
- Ann Dillon was born in 1949, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She is currently retired and lives in Atlanta with her husband. On January 21, 2017, millions of people worldwide took part in marches to protest the inauguration of Donald Trump as the President of the United States. The first protest, which took place in Washington, D.C., was known as the Women's March on Washington and was intended as a response to anti-woman rhetoric and beliefs that were espoused during Trump's campaign. While women's and reproductive rights were at the forefront of marchers' concerns, many also protested the racist, anti-immigrant, anti-science, and other controversial sentiments expressed by the incoming Trump administration.
Dillon describes herself as a political moderate, but was deeply disturbed by the election of Donald Trump. She attended the march with a group of neighbors, and felt impressed by the mood of the crowd. Her experience invigorated her sense of political participation. She feels that a lack of critical thought has harmed political discourse in America, and she encourages people to be more discerning of the news media they consume. - Metadata URL:
