- Description:
- Leah Lefkowitz was born in 1988 in Atlanta, Ga. She attended Brandeis University and lived in Boston for eight years. She is currently lives in Atlanta, where she works as an archivist. On January 21, 2017, millions of people worldwide took part in marches to protest the inauguration of Donald Trump as the President of the United States. The first protest, which took place in Washington, D.C., was known as the Women's March on Washington and was intended as a response to anti-woman rhetoric and beliefs that were espoused during Trump's campaign. While women's and reproductive rights were at the forefront of marchers' concerns, many also protested the racist, anti-immigrant, anti-science, and other controversial sentiments expressed by the incoming Trump administration.
In this interview, Leah Lefkowitz discusses having attended a high school and a college that were both very liberal and encouraged activism. She talks about her experiences attending the Atlanta March for Social Justice and Women with a group of friends. She describes the march as peaceful and enjoyable, but disorganized. Lefkowitz talks about her appreciation of having political conversations with those whose views differ from hers, and describes her hopes and fears for the future of life under the Trump administration. - Metadata URL:
