- Description:
- Video recording of the Stop Hate Politics Seminar (probably November 6, 1993) with numerous speakers discussing the impact of the recent Cobb County Board of Commission's passage of an anti-LGBTQ+/anti-gay resolution to preserve "family oriented standards" intended to censor arts programming led by commissioner Gordon Wysong. The speakers at this forum represented numerous community, cultural, and political groups based throughout Georgia (such as Cherry Spencer-Stark, chairman of the board of the Circle in the Square Theater, Benita Carr, a graduate student in Georgia State University's art department, Diana Bronson, at that time the director of the Chestatee Regional Library, an unidentified member of the Georgia Psychological Association, another unidentified spokesperson for the Hemlock Society, a representative of the ACLU of Georgia, professor Bill Paul of the University of Georgia art department) all of whom felt the impact of Christian right-wing-driven action against their respective missions. The footage ends with a presentation by Loretta Ross, then the national program research director for the Center for Democratic Renewal, who discusses anti-racism work.
