- Description:
- From a series of photographs documented in Lane Brothers Assignment Book ( 1951, page 19) for January 17, 1951 (not from January 16, as found on the negative envelope): "Southern Coach & Athlete, Coach Keith, 24 films developed, 21 contacts, 19 8x10 prints, basketball and groups." The series also includes photographs of the All-American Redheads basketball team, and other individual photographs. It is uncertain that the photo-shoots in this envelope are all from the same period of time or the same assignment. Dwight Taylor Keith (1900-1994) founded the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association in 1938, and served as GACA executive secretary for 35 years. The Association published the magazine Coach and Athlete, previously called Southern Coach and Athlete (1938-1952). The magazine is sometimes called Georgia Coach and Athlete. Coach Keith began his post as varsity track and field coach at Georgia Tech in 1945. He was the editor and is_part_of of Southern Coach & Athlete Magazine. Lane Brothers created photographs for Coach Keith for Southern Coach & Athlete, as recorded in the company's Assignment Books.
