Scurlock also details his career journey after leaving the FAA, including working in personnel management and addressing racial inequities in federal employment. Scurlock also recounts his decision to retire from his official position, pursuing contract government service work and local community leadership roles. Herbert Anthony Scurlock was born on September 25, 1993 in Washington D.C. He served years as an electrical technician for the United States Air Force, Navy, and Federal Aviation Administration. Scurlock also worked at the Department of Transportation and Department of Agriculture in personnel and equal opportunity management. Following retirement, Scurlock became a contractor for the Department of Interior, Library of Congress, and the Civil Service Commission. He also served as mayor of Maryland's Highland Beach Community amongst assuming other local leadership positions. Scurlock is also the grandson of well-known biochemist, Herbert Clay Scurlock, and well known photographer, Addison Scurlock. Herbert A. Scurlock passed away on May 3, 2024 in Annapolis Maryland.
