- Caption: "Macon gets new hospital. Macon, Ga.- The four-story Coliseum Parl Hospital, constructed at a cost of $7 million by Hospital Corporation of America in Nashville, was scheduled to begin admitting patients this week in Macon. It was the first hospital built in Macon in three decades. The hospital offers 123 private rooms with the remaining 100 beds in semiprivate rooms and special care areas, including coronary and intensive care units. Each room has a color television and a telephone. Dr. B. W. Forester of Macon, chairman of the State Board of Health, said Macon was completing $18 million worth of new medical facilities that 'will make it second to none in the Southeast as a medical center.'
