BMW is building a plant in Greer, S.C., and plan to pay sub-union wages in construction and car production. Caption; Stewart Acuff Pres of Atlanta Ga. Labor Council (AFL-CIO) (right) is protesting with sheet metal workers in front of the Charles Evans BMW for fair treatment of the union worke[r]s in S.C." Newspaper caption attached to print verso: "Union protest. Stewart Acuff, president of the Atlanta Labor Council, joined protesters Tuesday from the Sheet Metal Workers International Association outside the Charles Evans BMW dealerships nationwide, claiming the German automaker plans to build cars in a factory near Spartansburg, S.C., with non-union labor" (date-stamped Wed Jun 02 1993 J C).
