- Print verso inscribed "Atlanta Journal photo." Stamped "Return to May 17, 1938 Fraysur." Newspaper caption: "Fire scene -- seven ambulances wait as firemen comb ruins. This picture, made Monday, graphically locates the Terminal Hotel, popular inn of Atlanta railroad men and travelers, which before dawn was the scene of the city's most deadly fire. Note firemen climbing ladder to the roof of the flame-eaten hostelry. Spectators in left foreground are standing on the Post Office plaza. At right is the Terminal Station. Large structure in center background is the Southern Railroad Building. Seven ambulances wait among the fire trucks on crowded Spring Street as firemen comb the ruins for more victims."
