- Newspaper assignment sheet attached to print verso identifies photographer Kimberly Smith: "Lesbian & Gay Pride rally at Piedmont Park... Thousands of people were out Sunday afternoon at Piedmont Park to hear speakers & view entertainment at the Lesbian & Gay Pride Rally. The rally was the follow-up to a parade that wound its way through Atlanta's Midtown section up Peachtree Street to the Park for the rally. The flag in the foreground with the pink triangle is a symbol of gay unity. (A gut there told me the Nazis used to label gays with a pink triangle, much like the Jews wore a yellow Star of David. The symbol has now been taken over by gays & lesbians as their unity symbol.)
