- Newspaper assignment sheet attached to print verso identifies photographer Kimberly Smith: "Edward Stephens, left, of Jonesboro, GA and a KKK of Georgia member who would not give his name, stood with their signs in the pro-death penalty area outside the State of Georgia Corrections Dept. facility at Jackson, GA Tuesday evening before the scheduled execution of Warren McCleskey, who was convicted of shooting an Atlanta Police Officer. (The KKK guy did say he indeed was a Klan member and that he was from Georgia.)" One protestor holds sign that reads "Lethal injection is not fair ... Let's keep the electric chair!!!" The Klan member holds sign "We support the death penalty."
