- Reprint of 19th-century photograph. Print verso inscribed: "Peachtree St., 1872, looking north from the railroad crossing. The horsecar was heading south on Whitehall. The sign at right is for C.C. Hammoch's Real Estate Office; Hammoch served as mayor in 1873, 1875 and 1876." Another later reprint of the image has newspaper caption attached to verso: "Peachtree Street, 1872: Grady invited the North to look southward to the 'brave and beautiful city' raised from the ashes left by Sherman in 1864." (Date-stamped "Sun Dec 21 1986 J/C.") and "Horsecars, 1872: Streetcar is drawn along Whitehall Street (now Peachtree)." (Date-stamped "Sun Dec 9 1984 J C.") Front of print gives year "1882."
