A worker atop the Coca-Cola sign on Margaret Mitchell Square directs efforts to take the flashing neon landmark apart Thursday. The Coke sign, which as ruled the spot since 1949, will be gone in 10 days. Part of it will be broken up, encased in plastic and sold as souvenirs. The demolition is costing Coca-Cola about $10,000.
